This guide will show teachers how to take daily and period-based attendance in the new OnCourse Attendance view.
Once you login, navigate to the Attendance application.
Select the appropriate date on the calendar.
Choose a School, Rotation Day, and a Section. Depending on the setup of your school, these filters will vary.
The roster for the chosen classes will appear to the right.
Select the “Show Student Photos” button to make student photos visible.
To take attendance, click on the attendance code, and select the appropriate option. Since “Present” is the default code, you’ll only need to take attendance for students who are “Absent” or “Tardy”
As you take attendance you will see red triangles beside each attendance value. The triangles indicate that attendance has not yet been saved. To save attendance, click the “Submit” button.
Once attendance values are saved, the red triangles will disappear.
Notice there are a few red triangles, indicating that the edited records have not been saved. Don’t forget to click the “Submit” button to save these values.
Teachers with the proper permissions will be able to enter comments. To do this, click in the “Comments” column and add a note. Don’t forget to click the “Submit” button to save.
The “Daily Attendance” column shows the daily attendance value for the current day. For schools that take period-based attendance, the daily attendance value is recorded at the beginning of the day and visible here for the student’s other teachers to see.
If you haven’t taken attendance for certain classes, you’ll see them listed in the Missing Attendance section. To record missing attendance values, select a class, and follow the steps outlined earlier.
