The state of New Jersey requires Teacher Practice scores to be submitted to the NJSMART data system. To align with other measures, these scores need to fall within a 1-4 point range, with 4 possible rating names. By default, McREL's scores range from 0-4, with 5 possible rating names.
If your district is using the McREL framework to rate your teachers the calculated scores will differ from the ones required by the state of New Jersey. To remedy this situation, OnCourse automatically converts these scores for you.
Now, after observations have been conducted and evaluations have been generated, you will be able to see both scores in the Overall tab of OnCourse Evaluate. The McREL score is located above, and the NJ State score below.
To ensure that both scores are visible in the Overall tab you MUST check the Use McREL Conversion box located in the framework. To access the framework, navigate to the Evaluation Manager, select the System Manager tab, and then the Frameworks tab. Next, edit the McREL framework by clicking on the yellow pencil. Check the Use McREL Conversion box and click Save.
Converted New Jersey state scores can also be seen when running the NJSMART Staff Evaluation Submission report.
