OnCourse has several ways of calculating extra credit for students. For teachers using the “points” or “weight/points” grading methods, they can create assignments that will add additional points directly to a student’s point total.
Make sure you’re using either the “Points” or “Weight/Points” grading method.
Add a new assignment. Apply all settings as needed. Do not place this assignment in the “Extra Credit” category. That category applies extra credit differently from this method.
Make sure to set the “maximum points” value to 0.
Identify the assignment in your grade book. Note it’s high score.
Enter your students’ score on the assignment. Watch their total earned points increase by the same amount.
This will raise their final grades in proportion to the scale of the extra credit assignment.
