OnCourse has three grading methods available to teachers. The “Weight/Points” method allows teachers to apply weights to their grade book categories, while also weighing individual assignments based on their maximum point value. The following guide shows you how to make best use of this grading method.
Above your grading grid, select the “Weight/Points” grading method.
When adding categories, apply weights as desired.
OnCourse assumes your categories will add up to 100%, so you don’t need to explicitly weigh each category. In the screenshot, Classwork, Homework, and Tests/Projects add up to 60%. OnCourse automatically weighs Quizzes and Presentations at 20% each (Extra Credit is a nonweighted by default).
Now you can begin adding assignments.
When adding assignments, carefully consider the maximum point value. This value will determine the assignment’s weight within it’s category.
As you add assignments, you will see the “% of Category” field adjust accordingly.
