Schools using the Curriculum Builder have the benefit of a central, online location for curriculum units, resources, maps, etc. Teachers have the additional benefit of being able to link items from the curriculum directly into their daily plan.
1. Finding the Curriculum
Start in your Lesson Planner, and click to the plan you are working on. When the Lesson Plan editor opens (see below), click on the Curriculum Portal button.
2. Locating Units and Resources
The district’s curriculum “tree”will appear on the left side of the screen (see green box). This is a series of folders, and curriculum units are stored in these folders.Navigate through these
folders to find the curriculum units that relate to your class. Units will be marked with a grey and blue icon labeled UNIT (see arrow).
3. Linking to Content or Standards
When inside a unit, any item that can be linked to the lesson plan will have a green plus icon next to it (see arrows).
In the example to the right, the teacher can choose to link the entire unit to the lesson (top arrow) or link standards from the unit (bottom arrow).
4. Checking Progress
As these items are linked, the number of Ref’s, or references, will increment, letting the teacher know if and how often they have worked with specific curricular resources.
5. Checking the Lesson Plan
Any linked items will appear in icons at the bottom of the lesson plan block. Any standards or line items (skills, assessments, topics) will appear under the standards flag. Any linked units will appear as a starred book. Click either of these icons to see the linked material (see below).
