Primarily used by school nurses, the Health and Medical tab contains a student’s health information. Health alerts are one aspect of the Health and Medical tab. These alerts inform school staff of short-term or ongoing student medical conditions. This document will show you how to create and edit health alerts. You will also learn how to access health alerts in different areas of the OnCourse system.
Select Health and Medical from the Student Information tab.
Choose the appropriate School and Student.
In the Health Alerts tab, click the plus button to add a new health alert.
Enter the Type of medication, check the Active box, and include any Comments. Then click Save.
Refresh your browser, and the medical alerts icon (a red circle with a plus sign) will be visible.
The medical alert icon is visible in three different places within OnCourse. In the student record within the Health and Medical tab (refer to pic in step 5).
In a student record, within the People tab.
Next to a student’s name, within the Grade Book.
Clicking on the icon anywhere within the system, provides staff members access to the information relating to the student’s health alert.
To make changes to a health alert, click on the entry within the Health and Medical tab.
Make any necessary changes and Save.
To inactivate an alert, unchecking the Active box and Save.
