Dispositions are the recorded consequences of discipline incidents. They can record and track actions such as detentions, suspensions, parent/teacher conferences, and more. Each disposition must be associated with a specific incident, a process this guide will detail for you.
1. Select Incident
Because dispositions are recorded as resolutions of specific incidents, you must first select an incident in order to add a disposition in the bottom portion of the screen.
**NOTE: Clicking the number under "Victims" will open the Victim Manager described in the previous guide. Hovering over the number under "Flags" will display the linked discipline flags in a pop-up window.
2. Disposition Form
Each disposition requires certain fields to be completed and allows for many other details to be entered:
• Disposition Code (required) - choose the appropriate action/ consequence from the drop down menu.
• Demerits - Enter the number of associated demerits if applicable. Demerits are tracked and can be collected in several reports
• Date (required) - select the date of the action from the calendar. You can hold the CTRL key on your keyboard to select multiple dates.
• Time In/Time Out - This records the time span of the disposition, useful for detentions and parent meeting.
• Minutes Removed - This identifies the total number of minutes the student will be removed from classroom activities per recorded disposition.
• Administrator - Select the administrator associated with this disposition from the drop down menu.
• Administrator Type - Select the administrator's role in the discipline process from the drop down menu.
• Location - This open text area allows you to manually type in the location of the disposition (i.e. classroom, cafeteria, principal's office, etc.)
• Comments - This space is for any notes that need to be recorded regarding the disposition. These are not available publicly.
• Alternate location - Select a location from the drop down if the disposition will be taking place at a location outside of the school.
• Corporal Punishment Authorized - Check this box if applicable.
3. Save the Disposition
Once you have completed the form, you have two saving options. First, you can simple save the disposition which will close the window and take you back to your OnCourse account.
Alternately, you can save the current disposition and immediately begin creating a brand new one. This is useful if a particular incident requires more than one action such as a detention and a parent conference.
4. Finalized Discipline Record
Once you have completed all of your dispositions, the student's account will look like the screenshot below. Adding multiple dates to a single disposition will result in two separate dispositions being created. Otherwise, you will see each disposition you created listed separately.
The "Incident Details" and dispositions will only display what is connected to the incident you have selected, so you must select an incident first in order to see the associated dispositions.
